The goal of this project was to design a product that evokes women to search for their own way of handling their abortion.

Rich user insight

To get a rich insight in the target group (women who suffered an abortion) I did interviews with sufferers, a therapist, and family doctor . In addition I went to several abortion clinics to get a feeling of the atmosphere and read many fora on internet concerning abortion. All these insights are combined in an info graphic.

Interaction and product vision

I wanted the interaction that rises between the product and the woman to be loving and humoristic. The product itself had to be advising and entertaining.┬áThe final design is a gift box with two soft socks and a booklet. The booklet gives you all sorts of things you can do with the socks. In an informal way these ‘things’ show you how other women handled their abortion.

User test

Twenty prototypes where given away in an abortion clinic, from which many positive and thankful reactions were received.
